I create moving fluid acrylic paintings that celebrate coincidence, energy and curiosity. By manipulating paint viscosity and opacity I pour, swipe, spin, and guide the flow of color to form abstract compositions rich in texture and movement. Each piece evolves through an intuitive dance of hide and seek—culminating in dynamic works that invite you to pause, feel, and connect.
Often the final layer is embellished with brushwork and fine detailing to bring forward structure and story within the abstract flow.
As I continue to evolve as an artist, I’m driven to experiment on the edge of control and spontaneity, constantly refining techniques that reveal the beauty and discipline of fluid art.

SANDY THOMPSON
Sandy Thompson, known professionally as The Studio Muse, is a contemporary fluid artist whose work embodies the harmony between spontaneity and intention. With over three decades of experience in visual communication and design, she brings a refined eye to the unpredictable beauty she creates with acrylic tools and technique.
A Massachusetts native now based in South Carolina’s Lowcountry Sandy’s professional journey began with a career in public relations and event design before transitioning to interior design. In 2023 Sandy left the corporate world to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a full-time fine artist —a reflection on her enduring belief that the need to create never leaves the spirit. Her contemporary paintings have been exhibited across the Southeast, collected by private patrons, and recognized for their technical mastery and emotional resonance.
Sandy draws inspiration from the earth, the sea and the spirit of artistic wisdom - translating the paint’s ebb and flow into layered abstractions that shimmer with depth and emotion. Her compositions invite viewers to pause and reflect, evoking moments of serenity and transformation. Through her distinctive use of color, movement, and texture, Sandy explores how life’s chaos can resolve into grace, and how fluid motion can express the gentle energy of stillness.
Today, she continues to evolve her practice, by pushing boundaries of traditional art and experimenting with new techniques that reveal the mastery involved in Fluid Art.
